  Remember the Time by Michael Jackson


Background information : "Remember the Time" is a 1992 single by Michael Jackson, released on January 14. The song's lyrics are written about remembering having fallen involve with someone. The length of the song is 3:59 and was very popular among listeners, peaking at number 3 on the Billboard Top 100. Despite the song just falling short of 4 minutes, the music video lengths at 9 minutes. Michael Jackson wrote the lyrics and produced the music video alongside Teddy Riley.

Music video analysis: the video begins in Ancient Egypt, with a Pharaoh struggling to entertain who appears to be his wife. Jackson then walks in as a shady character. He then bedazzles everyone with his magic trick and changes to appear as a much more loud and cheerful character wearing more vibrant clothes to symbolize love and happiness. The singing then begins, and he is singing to the wife who seems to be charmed by Jackson. The suggestion is that they knew each other in the past and he has come back to remind her of the past in hope of winning her back.

While he sings and dances, everyone around him joins in, perhaps suggesting the influence his presence has on those around him. The two then appear alone together. They hug and afterwards, they kiss. This perfectly portrays the love they once had that they still clearly have deep in their hearts.

At the end of the video, Jackson almost has a shift back to reality. He is faced with the angry Pharaoh who clearly is unimpressed with his actions. As Jackson gets ambushed, he vanishes with a spin. This could be portraying how easy it is to come and go out of somebody's life, no matter how much they mean to you.






For my music video, I plan to use flashbacks of a man who is missing the time he had with the woman he loved. He will remember the times they had together and regret taking it for granted. The lesson will be to not take people for granted.

  When I Was Your Man Background information: "When I Was Your Man" is a song by Bruno Mars released on January 15 2013 and is 3:34 long. The pop song is an emotional piano ballad with lyrics describing the heartbreak and regret he is feeling after letting his lover leave his life, and found someone else. Instead of feeling jealous of her "new man" he hopes that he treats her right and does right to all of his wrongs. The song topped the charts and is still popular today. Bruno Mars appears on a piano in a black suit with dark sunglasses on, almost as if he is at a funeral. the lyrics are clearly illustrating how he is missing the woman he used to love, as she is "with another man". The emotion in his voice is brought out in the video, with the dark blue setting. The room he is in is big, yet empty. This could possibly be portraying how he feels inside. Music video analysis: Love Will Tear us Apart

        Love will tear us apart Background information: "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is a song by English rock band Joy Division, released in June 1980. The lyrics were inspired by lead singer Ian Curtis' struggles with mental illness. Curtis later committed suicide and the song was released a month after. The song is 3:18 and depicts Curtis' troubled relationships with his wife, saying that they will tear each other apart as long as they love each other. The song also makes suggestions about his struggles with epilepsy, which he was diagnosed with in 1979, and the stress of keeping a day job while also worrying about his music career.  The music video begins in a rather dark setting, with Joy Division playing their instruments in a dark room.
